Sending 5e | Spell Guide for D&D 5e

Sending is a powerful spell on DND that’s very interesting and useful. This is a 3rd level evocation spell. Spell casting requires one action and its range is unlimited. A short piece of fine copper wire is needed for this spell, and the duration of the spell is one round.

3rd Level Evocation
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Unlimited
Material: A short piece of fine copper wire
Spell List: Bard, Cleric, & Wizard
Components: V, S, M

Target: A creature with which you are familiar

Duration: 1 round

You send a short Message of twenty five words or less to a creature with you are familiar. The creature hears the Message in its mind, recognizes you as the sender if it knows you, and can answer in a like manner immediately.

The spell enables Creature with Intelligence scores of at least 1 to understand the meaning of your Message.

You can send the Message across any distance and even to other planes of existence, but if the target is on a different plane than you, there is a 5 percent chance that the Message doesn’t arrive.

Frequently Asked Question of Sending

There is no doubt that Sending is a very amazing spell, but many people are confused by it, and so they ask some questions. Here are the answers to those questions;

1. What Level Spell Is Sending 5e?

The Sending spell is a third-level evocation spell and it is part of the Evocation school.

2. Is Sending Spoken 5e?

Sending has nothing to do with speaking. Your message can even be understood by creatures that are incapable of communicating. That suggests to me that it could be a form of telepathy.

3. What Classes Can Use Sending?

Sending is a spell that wizards, clerics, and bards can use. Casters can instantly transmit telepathic messages “across any distance.”.

4. Is Sending Telepathic 5e?

Telepathy is unlimited and only requires being within range of the target, so there’s some value in being able to ignore an overly-chatty telepath.

Sending is costly and requires familiarity with the target. If someone is trying to reach you with Sending it’s likely important.

5. How Does The Sending Spell Work In 5e?

In this spell a creature with which you are familiar receives a short message of 25 words or less.

The creature hears the Message in its mind, recognizes you as the sender if it knows you, and can immediately respond in a similar manner.

6. Can Druid Cast Sending?

No.

Druids are unable to use this spell since it does not appear on their list, so they cannot use it.

7. Can Sending Be Intercepted 5e?

A Sending spell is not only capable of facilitating instantaneous communication between forces, it can also be intercepted only by sighting the caster, or by using the most rare spell available.
